It’s been a year since Harvey but there is still so much work to be done. Please keep coming out! Encourage others to show up. Harvey recovery work is far from over.
Volunteer with West Street
We’re doing rebuild work in NE Houston, an area heavily impacted by flooding. If you have any skills hanging drywall, taping and floating, installing floors and doors or doing other finish work, or want to learn with us, please reach out! We also do other fun stuff like build rain gardens, salvage materials and appliances from homes scheduled for tear down, dig trenches, repair roofs, no day is ever the same volunteering with West Street.
If you’re interested in volunteering with our Rebuild Team please contact Andrew at Andrew@weststreetrecovery.org.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
We also need help with things like delivering supplies, phone calls, website admin and research. If you’re looking for a day to meet up with us, or could help us out remotely, please contact us at email@example.com.
Groups of volunteers are welcome! Larger groups are fun opportunities for us to take on bigger projects, and we can often match a project to the team we have joining us.
Volunteer groups can contact Alycia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A few words about volunteering in marginalized communities: We are not here to dictate what needs to be done. We are here to listen, ask questions, engage in relationships and work in solidarity with communities that are already established, skilled, and knowledgeable.
To uphold these values we seek to follow the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing.
