Thank you to everyone who joined us at our 2nd Annual Dinner & Fundraiser! Celebrating our two year anniversary with our community, volunteers, and families we work with was an exciting occasion for West Street. We are honored so many people took the time to join us, and are immeasurably grateful for everyone’s support.

Much gratitude to Finca Tres Robles Farm for hosting our event in their incredible space, and for all their help making sure our event was a success.  A big shout out to Culinary Hearts Catering for preparing a delicious dinner and beautiful decor. And thank you to the folks at Houston Tool Bank for helping us out with furniture again this year.

Thank you to our local fundraiser sponsors for the awesome beverages served at our event!

Fundraiser Info

On October 12, West Street Recovery will celebrate the second anniversary of our founding and honor the incredible efforts of our volunteers, staff and families we serve, with a dinner at Finca Tres Robles Farm.

Our second year has been a thrilling time of growth for West Street Recovery. What began out as a few friends helping neighbors after Harvey has evolved into a team of community members working with residents of Northeast Houston to rebuild their lives and homes. In just two years we have created an efficient nonprofit organization providing case management to over 250 families, providing small build repairs, and more recently completing full home rebuilds for families that cannot qualify for other rebuilding programs. We are also excited to be engaged in a long term community organizing project in the 77078 area, and to have recently completed our first edition of our flood resilient home design.

Since starting West Street Recovery, we have worked diligently to ensure the funds we raise have the most impact possible. We follow a careful and well considered decision making process, seek donated materials whenever possible, hire contractors who live communities we work in, and rely on an incredible volunteer network for much of our rebuild work. As we continue building our organization’s capacity to take on more projects with more community impact, and with Harvey recovery funds becoming harder to come by, we have some substantial fundraising goals ahead.

Funds raised at our annual fundraiser will go towards our home repair projects. To date we have completed small repairs in over 50 homes, with a goal to complete 52 more. We have fully repaired 6 homes, have 2 currently under construction, and aim to finish a total of 13 complete renovations before July of 2020. On average it costs West Street:

$32,000 to restore an entire home
$6,000 to replace an entire electrical system
$4,800 to replace a roof
$2,400 to install a new bathroom

Our fundraising goal this year is $32,000. We are deeply grateful for your support, and the support of the Rebuild Texas Fund, who will be matching dollar for dollar, all funds raised at this event.

We invite you to join us for a fun and relaxing evening of fresh local food and beverages, entertainment, and to hear from families we work with about what life is like in Northeast Houston two years after Hurricane Harvey.
